Our Company

Crowther Roofing & Cooling has grown from a family roofing business into a multi-division company serving homeowners, businesses, contractors, and property teams across Florida.

Five Generations of Family. Decades of Service. Built for Florida.

Crowther Roofing & Cooling is a family-operated roofing, HVAC, fabrication, and specialty construction company serving residential and commercial clients across Florida. Built over five generations, Crowther combines long-standing industry experience with the people, equipment, and specialized capabilities required to support projects of nearly every scale.

There are a lot of roofing and cooling companies in Florida.

There is only one Crowther.

What makes that difference is not simply the company’s size or range of services. Crowther has been built over generations—not assembled overnight. The same principles that shaped the company decades ago still guide how the work is done today: take responsibility, stand behind the work, and build relationships that last.

Where It Started

The Crowther story began in Chicago in 1955, when Lee J. Crowther started his career in his family’s roofing business.

Twenty years later, in 1975, Lee brought that experience to Fort Myers. Florida was growing, and there was an opportunity to provide year-round roofing and cooling services backed by generations of hands-on knowledge.

That move established the foundation for the Crowther Roofing & Cooling of today. The company’s official history continues to recognize its Chicago roots, its expansion into Florida in 1975, and the five generations of family involvement that followed.

Five Generations Strong

Crowther is not only family-owned. It is family-built.

Today, the company is led by CEO Lee S. Crowther and President Kevin Callans, with members of the Crowther family continuing to serve throughout the organization. Five generations have now contributed to the company’s growth.

That continuity influences how Crowther operates:

  • Decisions are made with the long term in mind.
  • Standards are carried forward rather than continually reset.
  • Reputation matters because it is personal.
  • Growth is measured by more than size alone.

Crowther has expanded significantly, but the values at the center of the company remain rooted in family, accountability, craftsmanship, and service.

Built to Serve Florida

From its early operations in Fort Myers, Crowther has grown into a company capable of serving clients across much of Florida.

With more than 900 employees and a fleet of approximately 475 service vehicles, Crowther has the resources to support residential service calls, ongoing property maintenance, large commercial developments, and highly specialized construction projects.

Growth has not changed the company’s approach. It has expanded what Crowther is equipped to handle.

Springer-Peterson Roofing and Sheet Metal is a wholly owned member of the Crowther family of companies. Serving Florida since 1981, the Lakeland-based company brings an established reputation in commercial and industrial roofing, roof service, sheet metal work, and architectural metal fabrication.

The addition of Springer-Peterson expands Crowther’s ability to support commercial clients, builders, and other trades with custom-fabricated components and specialty field services.

Springer-Peterson Fabrication began by producing roof-related architectural metals, curbs, and other custom components and has since developed into a broader fabrication resource for commercial construction.

Together, Crowther and Springer-Peterson can coordinate more elements of a project through one connected family of companies—helping reduce delays, address jobsite challenges, and keep work moving toward completion.

Capabilities Include:

Architectural metal fabrication

Custom steel framing

Storefront and entry build-outs

Roof-access ladders

Equipment benches and curbs

Dumpster enclosures and gates

Stainless steel trim and corner guards

Plate rolling, bending, and shearing

Rooted in the Community

Crowther’s connection to Florida extends beyond the work performed on homes and buildings.

Through volunteer efforts, sponsorships, partnerships, and direct community support, the company invests in the places where its employees and customers live and work.

That commitment is reflected through Crowther Cares, the company’s ongoing approach to giving back and supporting local organizations and families.

The philosophy is straightforward: show up, contribute, and leave the community better than you found it.

A Reputation Built Over Time

Crowther’s reputation has been earned through consistent performance.

It means showing up when expected, completing the work correctly, communicating clearly, and standing behind what has been done.

Over time, that approach has created long-term relationships with:

Leadership That Knows the Work

Crowther’s leadership team represents both the strength of its family legacy and the experience required to guide a large, multi-division organization.

Many of the company’s leaders have grown within Crowther or spent years working directly in the industries they now oversee. That experience provides a practical understanding of project execution, safety, customer service, field operations, financial stewardship, and long-term planning.

Together, the leadership team continues to honor the standards that built Crowther while preparing the company for its next generation of growth.

Looking Forward

Crowther continues to grow, but the focus remains the same. The goal isn’t just to be larger—it’s to be better at what the company already does well.

Maintain the standards that built the company

Expand capabilities where they improve service and execution

Invest in experienced people and specialized resources

Stay connected to the communities Crowther serves

Prepare the company for the generations that follow
